Youth Stories

Justice Matters is working for policies that not only keep students in school, but help them unleash the full potential of what they can offer themselves and others. We work for policies that enable schools to collaborate with families and the community to build a strong web of support around each student that gives them the help they need. Policies that prepare schools to build on the knowledge and language skills that each student brings. That enable schools to inspire students’ curiosity, awaken their desire to challenge themselves, and identify where their passions lie.

*Justice Matters thanks POOR Magazine media studies interns Angel and D’Shawn for allowing us to share their stories.

"Two things give young people a sense of who they are—roots and wings. A sense of worth through connection to their own language and a sense of possibilities by developing another language. We are developing children who can bridge across and move between."
